One of the newer machines within our capabilities is the Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). Yesterday, Erica and Amir examined some samples for a collaborator with the TEM.

Transmission electron microscopy requires an electron-transparent sample, and is capable of resolving individual atoms. Among the information that can be gained from the TEM are atomic structure, dislocation structure, and local elemental composition.
